  • Cook Time:
  • Servings: 2

Ingredients

  • (2 Tbsp) Unsalted Butter
  • (1) Small Yellow onion, Diced
  • (1 inch) Ginger, Minced
  • (2) Garlic Cloves, Minced
  • (3) Peeled Pears (Anjou, Bartlett, or Bosc); 1 pear cut in half, and 2 pears diced
  • (1.5 cups) Chicken Stock
  • (3 Tbsp) Cider Vinegar
  • (2 Tbsp) Honey
  • (1/4- 1/2 tsp) Fresh Sage; plus whole leaves for garnishing
  • Pinch of Salt
  • (1/2 tsp) Salt
  • (1/2 tsp) Pepper
  • (2 Tbsp) Oil
  • (1) Pork Bone-In Chops

Directions

How to Make It:

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium flame.
  2. Once melted, add the onion, ginger and garlic. Sauté until the onions are softened, about 5-7 min.
  3. Add the diced pears to the onions along with the stock, vinegar, honey, and sage.
  4. Once the sauce comes to a boil, reduce the flame and add salt and pepper to taste. At this time add the pear halves to the sauce. Allow the pear halves to cook in the sauce for approximately 10min. You may need to flip the pears over so they cook evenly on both sides. Remove the pear halves and set aside.
  5. Continue simmering the sauce until the diced pears are fully cooked approximately five additional minutes.
Heat a large cast-iron pan (large enough to fit two pork chops and two pear halves) on high flame for approximately 3 to 4 minutes.
  6. In the meantime pat the pork chops on both sides with a paper towel until they are dry. Sprinkle each side with salt and pepper.
  7. Add the oil to the hot pan and place the pork chops in the pan for 3 to 4 minutes.
  8. Flip the pork chops over and add the two pear halves, cut side down. Cook the pork chops for another 3-4 minutes. Internal temperatures should read around 145F. Turn the flame off and allow the pork chops to rest for 10 minutes before plating.
  9. Place each pork shop and pear half on a plate. Spoon the pear sauce over the pork chop and garnish with whole sage leaves.

But, I'm realizing that there is much to be said in the simplicity of the recipe, and allowing the ingredients to shine. And, when you're working with ingredients that contain so many nutrients, like our Primal Blend Ground Beef, that's not difficult to do. Meatloaf is about as basic as you can get, but don't let that fool you. It is packed with flavor!

Maple Cider Glazed Salmon with Honey Butter Polenta

Who doesn’t love a good salmon dish? Salmon, in my opinion, is such a versatile protein, and pairs well with most anything. This specific recipe was inspired by none other than my Pinterest board. And let’s just say, it did not disappoint. I’m a big fan of a spicy and sweet combination, and the two mesh beautifully in this dish. The marinade for the salmon is so good that you might consider taking a swig - no judgment here if you do. If polenta isn’t your thing, by all means, swap it out with some mashed potatoes or rice. I, for one, really enjoyed the sweet component of the polenta, but that’s just me. I hope you enjoy this recipe just as much as my family did!

Chicken Chorizo Tacos with Mango Salsa

Indulge in this spicy and tangy taco recipe, featuring one of our newest products, Chicken Chorizo! While chorizo can be used in a variety of dishes, with its cured and seasoned elements, I find using it for tacos is superior. While the chorizo is the star in this dish, let's not overlook the home made mango salsa. It may be the most time consuming part of this recipe, but it is worth it. The freshness and acidity compliments the spice of the chorizo so well. These flavors are sure to leave your mouth watering for more after each bite!
